Grief Walker

In Vancouver on Sunday 18th Oct, I met a long time hero.

Stephen Jenkinson.

Knowing his health is in decline with a Parkinson’s diagnosis, I crafted a visit to my sister around the unexpected announcement of a handful of tour dates.

A story he threaded through the performance.

“Last year I was in Ireland with my wife. At a place where there were ancient ruins all around, I said to her, ‘my life feels like these ruins’. She replied ‘well let’s go walk through them’.”

As is his way, he heard the metaphor.

Hence the return to the road with Gregory Hoskins and their Nights of Grief and Mystery.

And my good fortune to be present.
